Schools are Key to Choosing Houston Real Estate

One of the first questions to come out of any house-hunter’s mouth is frequently “How are the schools?” If you are checking out Houston real estate– and have or are planning to have children – the quality of the area educational system should be a primary concern.

The Houston Independent School District oversees the education of more than 200,000 students and is the seventh-largest public system in the United States. According to the HISD web site, “schools are organized within five geographic regions (North, East, South, West and Central) by feeder patterns composed of specific elementary, middle and high schools,” (www.houstonisd.org).

So if you’re looking to purchase Houston real estate, don’t forget to evaluate the area school system. Educational opportunities, while crucial for your children or future family, can also be important for resale value. And in Houston, the school systems are clearly on solid footing nationally.
