Down payment assistance and community redevelopment programs offer affordable housing opportunities to first-time homebuyers, low-income and moderate-income individuals and families who wish to achieve homeownership. The following programs are available for certain buyers within the Houston Metro areas:
♦ $8,000 Tax Credit for first time home buyers. Extended through April 30, 2010.
♦ $6,500 Tax Credit for current home owners to "Move-Up". Expires April 30, 2010.
♦ 100% home financing through the USDA in certain rural areas.
♦ Zero down payment for military personnel through the Veterans Administration.

$8,000 First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit
The $8,000 Tax Credit for first time home buyers was extended and now expires on April 30, 2010. A first time home buyer is defined as not owning a home in the last 3-years. Income restrictions apply. Click here for more details.
$6,500 Repeat Home Buyer Tax Credit
The $6,500 Tax Credit for repeat home buyers to move-up was recently enacted and expires on April 30, 2010. A repeat home buyer is defined living in the same home for five out of the last eight years. Income restrictions apply. Click here for more details.
Veteran’s Administration: No Down Payment for Military Personnel!
The Veteran’s Administration (VA) provides zero-down payment loans for active duty and non-active duty military personnel. The Maximum VA Loan Amount is $417,000 and no Mortgage Insurance is required. Additionally, the seller can up to pay 6% of your closing costs and, in most cases, you can move-in with no money down! 100% Financing through the USDA!

Texas Mortgage Credit Program!

Up to $19,500 Towards Your Down Payment in the City of Houston!
A home buyer can qualify for up to $19,500 towards the purchase of a new home with a maximum sales price of $135,000. To qualify the home must be within the City of Houston, you must live in the house for 5-10 years after purchase, and meet certain income and other requirements of the program. Housing Action Resource Trust Down Payment Assistance Program!
The Housing Action Resource Trust or HART program is a non-profit housing organization offering help to home buyers who qualify for FHA "first mortgage" loans.
